The joys of reading Library Journal…

Not only are there interesting articles, but there are reviews for books! While skimming the fiction review section to see what books will be coming out soon I saw Jennifer Weiner’s name. Jennifer Weiner is kind of a hit or miss author for me. I loved, loved, loved Good In Bed!

[A little side story about Good In Bed: for those of you who don’t know, my mother is a librarian. When this book first came out, I had recently graduated undergrad and was living at her house while I worked at Barnes & Noble and looked for a “real” job. (not that working at B&N isn’t a real job, but I kept hoping to find something that would allow me to use my degree; so at the time, I felt like I wasn’t doing what I should be doing…the whole go to college and get a good job theory wasn’t really working out for me) Anyway, she had Good In Bed sitting on the corner of her desk on the day she was going to bring it to me and apparently got razzed continuously by her co-workers. Ah, the things a mother will do for her daughter. ☺ ]

As excited as I was to read another book by the author who had thrilled me before, I just couldn’t finish In Her Shoes. I have however seen the movie version and that worked for me…but man did Maggie (the younger irresponsible sister) annoy the hell out of me! Sometimes there are just characters that I can’t handle and she was one of them, so even though I truly loved Good in Bed, I couldn’t make myself continue with In Her Shoes. But, back to today’s happy news. Weiner’s new book, Certain Girls, (coming out on April 8th) is a sequel to Good In Bed!!! According to Library Journal, the storyline picks up ten years later, showing the relationships between our happy couple and baby Joy (who is not exactly a baby anymore). For those of you out there who also thought Good in Bed was a fantastic read, get excited – a new installment is coming soon to a bookstore near you!
