Hello, my name is Gemma Ball, and I am a 22 year old student in my final year of studying a Fashion Futures degree in London.

I am contacting Mills & Boon fans and authors in order to hopefully receive some valuable help and information with my final degree module.

For my final module I have been briefed to choose a brand and then, predict how and where the brand will have developed in ten to fifteen years time, and I have chosen the Mills & Boon brand.

I really want to hear from people who are passionate about Mills & Boon, people of all ages and gender who are willing to answer a few questions for me and help me to understand who the modern romance lover is!

Any help towards my degree is amazing!

so please contact me on gem.t.ball@hotmail.com

thank you!

You know, now that I think about it, I often get dirty looks from my local librarian when I check out romances. Especially since I look young (I'm not, I just look like it..LOL). I remember her commenting once, "Does your mother know you have that?" And I responded with the truth, "As a matter of fact, she's the one that recommended it to me." Although I won't blame librarians like them for the entire mindset against the genre, I will say I don't think their attitude does anything to improve it.

Thank you for your comments over on the I heart Presents blog. As an ex-librarian who now writes for Harlequin Presents, I know both sides of the library desk! When I worked in libraries, I was a children's librarian and that was where I learned the value and appeal of simple, straighforward story-telling. Good stories kept the readers coming back again and again. That was the policy I worked on then - and it's one I'm still sticking to now with my romances.

How great to hear from you in support of the same ideas.

I tried leaving a comment at the other blog but you had to login and it wasn't allowing me to... geeze can't a girl get a break!?!

Anyway, as I am a librarian too, I can't stand the literary snobbery that librarians often have towards romance. Personally, I don't care WHAT you're reading or why; I'm just glad when people are reading. I get pretty ticked when I hear about librarians belittling the romance genre. Grrrr!
