Torchwood - Season 2 finale
For those of you out there who haven’t heard of this show, take a quick trip over to see what Wikipedia has to say about Torchwood. If you haven’t seen the show, just know that it is this fantastic Scifi masterpiece created by the BBC, where a team of people attempt to protect the world from other species (aliens). Last night was the Season 2 finale and it knocked my socks off! The show has a habit of bringing me to tears and last night was no exception. If you are planning on watching this show sometime in the future (which I encourage all of you to do!) or haven’t had a chance to watch last nights episode yet… STOP READING THIS NOW! MAJOR SPOILER ALERT….SPOILER ALERT…

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT….SPOILER ALERT… DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER!!!!!
Ok, for everyone else…I can not believe that they killed off two characters! I know that BBC has a habit of being a bit more shocking then Ameican tv, but come on - 2 of the 5 main characters are dead! Tosh and Owen are not coming back. I checked on the BBC site — and interestingly, if you live in America (as I do), you are blocked from seeing their website for Torchwood — I was forced to go to the BBC America site to get information and found a clip that specifically states, if you die, then you stay dead. Well except for the first time Owen died…but I suppose this time its really the end for him and Tosh.
I assume that there will have to be two new additions to the show. Captain Jack chose each of the member of his team carefully, each serving a specific purpose and Torchwood is now missing their doctor and computer specialist, two very important roles.
While I mourn the loss of these characters that I’ve gotten to know during the last two seasons, I’m looking forward to see what the BBC has to throw at me next - a girl just never knows what she’s going to get from them. Anyone know when season 3 is going to start?

Torchwood Series 2 (Season 2, for us Yankees) started production at the end of April 2007, and aired in the UK starting in January. The US broadcasts for Series 2 aired almost immediately after the episodes aired on the BBC.
I suspect we won’t see Series 3 until January 2009. I am hoping we might enjoy more than 13 episodes next year. I suspect there may be a two-part story at mid season and a two-part season finale for Series 3, bring the total number of episodes to 15.
As for being completely dead once you die… They keep killing Suzie.
Captain Jack can never die. Owen was dead but still walking and talking. Who knows? Maybe he’s still walking and talking in the power plant control room, and simply iridescent!
But Toshiko? Dang it! She was my girl. Cute, beautiful when she wanted to be so, shy, smart, timid yet strong, vulnerable, loving… I suspect she’s gone except for flashbacks, recordings, and perhaps an occasional reprieve if the team finds another alien glove.
I find the show to be inconsistent. I watch it every week, yet some episodes are written horridly. I thought the best shows this season were ‘Reset’, ‘Something Borrowed’, and ‘Adrift’.
And why didn’t they kill off Ianto instead of Tosh? Oh, that’s right. Captain Jack likes Ianto’s clothes better than Toshiko’s!

Yea, I agree with the dead thing. I added it in because I watched one of those short interviews with Gwen (Eve Myles) and she mentioned it. I took it to mean that if a character was gone, then they weren’t coming back. I would love to be wrong though.
